Issue Position: Cut Waste so We can Afford Great Roads, Schools, and Public Safety

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2014

It's clear that the state wastes a good deal of our hard-earned money. The current supermajority in the Legislature even voted to prohibit local governments from contracting freely for the best services at the best rate for local taxpayers. It really gets under my skin thinking about the better things we could do if our hard-earned money weren't mismanaged. Wasted money is money that could and should go to improving our infrastructure, our schools, and our public safety, or go back into taxpayers' wallets. As a legislator, I will fight waste in the giant Sacramento bureaucracy and fight to allow our local governments and agencies to have the flexibility they deserve to provide local services at the lowest cost for California taxpayers.
